The design of the Royal Crown on the flag of Queensland is altered whenever there is a change in the style of crown chosen by the reigning Monarch.
From 1901 to 1952 this was a Tudor Crown, worn by Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII and George VI. During this period, the colour of the Maltese Cross was changed from its original dark blue to the light blue used on the current flag, but the exact timing of this change is unknown. It may have even been a gradual process in the absence of an exact colour specification.
