Australia may have the edge over New Zealand on the sporting field but it is trailing in the race for a new flag, says an Aussie who should know.
Harold Scruby, the man behind the movement to change the Australian flag, is in NZ issuing a challenge to update the Kiwi ensign.
It was too awful to contemplate NZ winning the race but he was resigned to a rare Australian defeat, Mr Scruby said.
The familiar silver fern on a black background appeared to be the most popular design for a new NZ flag, he said.
