Show Designer's Description
The uniforms of our international sporting teams are green & gold (colours derived from our National floral symbol, the wattle). And our athletes should have a green & gold National flag to match.
The proposed design is all green & gold, and features:
• green ground with gold stripes, top and bottom;
• Southern Cross of gold stars at the upper left hoist;
• gold kangaroo at the lower centre of the flag.
The primary symbol is the Southern Cross – the historic symbol of Australian nationalism.
The secondary symbol is a kangaroo – the foremost symbol of Australian identity, known globally. The kangaroo is styled on the RAAF roundel. Gold is a plausible colour for a kangaroo, whereas green better suits an amphibian or reptile.
The gold stripes cause the flag to stand out. Otherwise, a green flag tends to merge with the background. The ratio by area of green to gold of the design is 69:31. In flight, the flag will present flashes of gold over green, like a bough of flowering wattle rippling in the breeze.
Show Designer's Description
The recent protests have shown people think that real Australians are only those with British ancestry and that if you have any other background you’re an immigrant no matter how far your lineage goes back in Australia and use the Union Jack in the flag to justify this so the first thing I did was remove it. The primary colours of the flag are our actual national colours of Green and Gold which represent our abundance in nature and prosperity. In the centre sits a black circle to represent the aboriginal people with lines stretching from corner to corner representing their long history in the country before the British came here. There are ripples surrounding the centre in the shape of an eye to represent the Torres Strait. In the centre sits the commonwealth star made from the buds of the golden wattle. Each bud of the wattle represents a state and territories or future states and it sits on top of the black circle in the middle to signify that the commonwealth and Australia as we know it was built on top of indigenous land. On the bottom right is the southern cross as it is the most important guiding star of the southern hemisphere placed in the gold to guide us to prosperity and lastly on the green top left is our national animal the kangaroo as it’s the most recognisable Australian symbol worldwide and anyone that sees it immediately knows it belongs to Australia. And sorry for the poor quality, i made this in Snapchat, but you can get the overall idea i was going for from the image.
Show Designer's Description
This design incorporates the most popularly embraced aspects of a potential new flag for Australia: blue, green, and gold colours, the retention of the Commonwealth Star and the Southern Cross, as well as the layout popularised by the excellent flag of the Northern Territory. The somewhat unique element of this design is the rarely proposed green-on-gold Commonwealth star, which - along with the perfectly square gold field - presents a bold and distinctive, yet instantly recognisable symbol.

The Green and Gold Flag
Depicting our national colours of green and gold as well as the southern Cross, this design is simple but distinctive as our national flag.
1. The hoist side features a black field reminiscent of the night sky.
2. Taken from the current flag design, the Southern Cross, a guiding symbol of our southern hemisphere location, is prominently featured on the hoist side.
3. Green and gold are our national symbols representing Australians in sport and culture both locally and abroad. Yellow represents the sun in the sky whilst green represents the land and its flora.
4. An angular chevron pattern evokes the boomerang, a symbol of Indigenous heritage, subtly uniting these elements into a unified national emblem.
Show Designer's Description
A distinctive and bold flag in Australia's colours and most recognisable symbols that unmistakably declares 'We are Australia".
Progressing themes of earlier designs, the following aspects are incorporated for broad appeal and enduring relevance as our national flag,
1. Australia's most distinctive and unifying symbols, identifying the land and all its people. The Southern Cross from the current flag is positioned on the hoist side. The kangaroo from the RAAF ensign and Australian penny is prominently displayed on the fly side bounding towards the Southern Cross, emphasising progress.
2. Use of the national colours strengthen Australia's brand. A darker shade of our national green improves contrast with the white stars and balances the gold. The result is suitable for use in sports, foreign affairs and defence. The green and gold unify Australia's brand, achieve separation from the British colours and avoids the design complexities of incorporating the black, yellow and red of the Aboriginal Flag which will continue to be used alongside the national flag.
3. Simple combination of elements, symmetry and balance of the shapes of the Southern Cross (2/5 width) and the kangaroo. It suitable for adaption to other aspect ratios, badges and other shapes.
4. Dominant gold provides visible warmth; the kangaroo evokes emotional warmth and connection.
5. Adaptable for State flag designs. Aligns with the themes of the NT and ACT flags.
Colours: Green Pantone 3435 C #154734; Gold Pantone 116 C #FFCD00.
Show Designer's Description
The formation of the new nation of Australia represented by the Federation Star has been placed in the prime position of the flag. It replaces the Union Jack formerly occupying this prominent position.
Southern Cross is retained, and a vestige of the Union Jack is denoted as the red and white triangles at the base of the flag.
In flight the triangles exhibit energy, vision and optimism.
The tradition of Red, White and Blue is honored.

Advance Australia Flag
This flag represents a combination of colours and symbols with strong association with Australia. The flag has a blue field, matching the shade of blue from the Australian National Flag.
The diagonal stripes, ascending from left to right, represent progress and advancement. Their colours- green and gold-are symbolic of Australia's landscape, prosperity and purity and the number of lines being three, represents Australia's past, present and future. The orientation of the stripes (diagonal from lower left to upper right) conveys the concept of "'Advance Australia Fair"'.
On the right side of the flag, the Southern Cross constellation is consistent with it's appearance on the Australian National Flag and represents our country's location in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Federation Star on the upper hoist-side, a large white seven pointed star, represents Australia's states and territories, a traditional element from the Australian National Flag.
The arrangement and symbolism align with common Australian themes: progress, unity and connection to the natural and cultural heritage. The design is in keeping with vexillology principles and the dimension is 2:3 in order to create more vertical space for the southern cross element (compared to how it looks in 1:2 ratio).
Show Designer's Description
This flag tells Australia's story in multiple ways.
Our land in colours - the sea, beaches, forests, red center, and open night sky with the glorious Southern Cross.
Our history in layers like coloured sands - discovery by sea; the gold rush; exploration, settlement & farming of our fertile lands; mining & fiery political debate; indigenous recognition & reconciliation.
Our people - the five colours of the Olympic rings to reflect our multiculturalism and our sporting achievements.
Our nation's colours - indigenous (black) and our English heritage (red [white“ blue), with our sporting colours of green and gold draped over the [hidden“ white strip, reflecting our evolution beyond our mother land.
Show Designer's Description
The Southern Stars (Southern Cross) are 'Upfront and Centre' in a quest for simplicity.
Wear and tear in flight mode should not adversely affect the device.
Each star is in the correct astronomical position relative to one another, and relative sizes and brightness.
The natural stance in the sky is maintained in lieu of vertically planted, leaving open First Nations interpretations.
Each star has been 'sharpened' to appear to 'sparkle' in the night sky, the intention being they are less likely to have a European only interpretation.
When used in 'press conference mode' the large 8-point star would have an important visual presence. It is designed to replace all three increasingly used flags to represent the Nation, as one enduring and durable flag.
