Ausflag Announces People′s Choice

The Executive Director of Ausflag, Mr Harold Scruby, today released the results of the People′s Choice section of the above Competition and Exhibition.

Mr Scruby said: "We were most impressed by the sophistication and consistency of the people in choosing their favourite designs. These results have given us a valuable insight into the hearts and minds of the Australian people. We have a far better understanding of what Australians like and what they don′t like. We were also impressed by the way in which the same designs kept appearing as favourites in practically all locations."

Stage 2 will be to announce the Judges′ Choice. Rule 3.1.3 of the Competition states:

"In the third phase, after the opening of the exhibition and concurrent with it, the Assessment Panel will further assess the best 100 designs, making their final decisions as to the winner(s) of this competition, allowing in the process for consultation with the authors as may be required."

Mr Scruby added: "The Judges felt that some of the better designs required further consultation with the designers and decided to postpone their decision until after the completion of this process. Their choices will be announced in the first quarter of 1999."

The top three winners in both the Judges′ Choice and the People′s Choice, will receive Apple Computers and Fuji Xerox products.
