Flag Proportion: 2:3
This proposed Australian flag was publicly launched by Ausflag on Australia Day in 1991 and was promoted in a series of television and press advertisements and bumper stickers throughout the year.
The design is a minimalist one resulting from research that indicated the Southern Cross was the single most popular symbol that people felt should feature on a new flag. Two colour schemes were promoted - the one above and an alternative with gold stars on a green field. Ausflag produced a television advertisement which featured these two designs and proclaimed "now we have designed the new flag all we need to do is decide upon the colours."
