Tuesday 22nd – Voting has now closed in the Australian Flag competition! Thank you for your extraordinary interest in this competition (this year the Ausflag site received nearly five million hits!) and your thousands upon thousands of votes. The winners of the competition, as chosen by the Assessment Panel, and voted for by the public, will be announced on Australia Day 1999. Until then, Ausflag wishes you a safe and merry Christmas and a happy start to 1999!
Friday 11th – There are only 11 days left to vote in the Australian Flag competition! The Quote of the Month! for December has been added.
November 1998
Monday 30th – There are only three weeks left to vote in the Australian Flag competition! The Flag Society of Australia has launched its web site – see the Flag Journals and Associations page. Our pages of flag links WWW Flag Resources has been updated. The Quote of the Month! for November has been added.
October 1998
Sunday 25th - Internet voting in the Australian Flag competition will close on December 22, so if you haven't yet voted, now is the time to do it! Ausflag will announce the 20 top designs, as voted by the public, on Australia Day 1999! The issue of non-citizens voting has arisen again. The Quote of the Month! for October has been added.

Thursday 4th – The growth of support for a new Australian flag is now unstoppable – see why in our look at the history of opinion polls on this issue. May 1998
Friday 8th – Two recent Ausflag Media Releases have been added, and a copy of the letter sent by Ausflag to the Delegates to the Constitutional Convention has been added. Ausflag has two new directors: Mr Randolph Alwis, Chairperson of the Federation of Ethnic Communities Councils, and Adj Prof Michael Bryce, a highly regarded Australian designer and designer of the Sydney 2000 Olympics Bid logo. The latest Newspaper Article has been added. The Quote of the Month! for May has been added.
April 1998
Monday 6th – The reverse side of our poster Australian Flag Mythology has been added. The Quote of the Month! for April has been added.
March 1998
Sunday 22nd – The latest opinion poll now shows a clear majority in support of a new Australian flag! Support for a new flag is now at its highest recorded level, and support for the retention of the existing flag is at its lowest recorded level. The trend-line graph has now "crossed over" and the politicians can ignore this issue no longer. The Flags Amendment Bill 1996 has finally passed through the Senate after the Government left the bill in limbo for over a year. Read the final Parliamentary Debates held in the Senate before the bill was passed. The resulting amendments are now shown in the Flags Act 1953. Three recent Ausflag Media Releases have been added. Five Newspaper Articles and two new cartoons have been added.
Sunday 1st – The past month has been Ausflag's most successful and extraordinary since our inception in 1981. The response to the 100 new flag designs from the Professional Design Competition has been unlike anything we have seen previously. Since Australia Day, this web site has recorded over 2 million hits – with over 300,000 on January 27 – easily smashing all previous Ausflag records. Thousands upon thousands of on-line votes have been recorded for the new designs. Ausflag and the flag debate has captured front-page news and Editorial comment across the country. The groundwell of public opinion for a new flag is now surely unstoppable! New this month: Seven Newspaper Articles have been added and the Quote of the Month! for March has been added. The Ausflag web site now comprises 308 pages of information, 176 flag images, 11 photographs, 9 cartoons and 8 posters.
January 1998
Wednesday 28th – The speech by Lois O'Donoghue, launching the 100 Finalists in the Australian Flag – Professional Design Competition, has been added. We'd like to thank the thousands of people who have already voted on-line for their favourite new flag designs - encourage your family, friends and work colleagues to have their say, even if they support the current Australian flag!
Sunday 25th – The 100 Finalists in the Australian Flag – Professional Design Competition are publicly announced and voting commences! You may have your say by choosing your favourite three designs in order of preference and submitting a vote on-line! The Design Brief sent out to all entrants has also been included!
Sunday 11th – Information about the 100 Finalists in the Australian Flag – Professional Design Competition has been added. The Quote of the Month! for January has been added.
